Why A Duck?

While many liberals feel betrayed Senator Ted Kennedy over his opposition to the first proposed offshore wind farm in the United States, throngs of conservatives couldn't be happier. Denizens of the far right can hardly contain themselves as they point to the hypocrisy surrounding the senator's attempts to block the permitting of Cape Wind because, they say, it would spoil his view of Nantucket Sound from his compound in Hyannis.

Bruce Tinsley's unabashedly-conservative syndicated comic strip, Mallard Fillmore weighs in on the controversy that is also the topic of the recently published
"Cape Wind: Money, Celebrity, Class, Politics, and the Battle for America's Energy Future on Nantucket Sound," by Wendy Williams and Robert Whitcomb. (GW)

The Cape Wind proposal is currently being reviewed by the U.S. Department of Interior's Minerals Management Service. That agency is expected to issue its Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) later this fall. (GW)
